Abode

I was lucky enough to visit Cereal Magazine's Abode, an alternative show flat at Greenwich Peninsula. According to Cereal it is 'as much an investigation of space, form and colour, as it an opportunity to create a beautiful, functional living space.'

I found it particularly of interest because of this departure away form the typical  'show flat', shiny spaces curated by property developers. The main living space at Abode did not have a sofa in-sight, instead a day bed by Bruno Mathsson and two antique chairs. Linen, abstract fine art and well-crafted sculptural chairs made a welcomed appeared in this space, which perhaps sings more design luxury than another Eames. This choice of furnishing possibility resonates with more of a design-led audience. The heavily marbled bathrooms had more of a typical penthouse than I'd hoped but featured some interesting black taps and fittings. The space itself designed by Conran featured poured concrete floors, blacked ash panelling, creating a modernist, neutral blank canvas.

This development is part of a whole redesign of the Greenwich Peninsula area along the bank of the Thames. http://greenwichpeninsula.co.uk/
