Inspiration for projects comes from travel, visiting places and cultures, exploring the local vernacular and traditional craftsmanship, which I bring into projects whether they are commercial or residential.
HOMES
Homes should be inward spaces to retreat to but equally, our springboard to life and the adventures we have outside our home. Spaces inhabited by objects and artefacts of life collected along the way.
Happy spaces for me often start with sunlight, simple honest materials, and nature.
THE CORNWALL HOME
My mission is that of designing homes and interiors, which depart from the existing pastiche coastal style which has been evident in the last few decades with the rise of the holiday home. Instead, a style, which honours Cornwall’s rich Architectural and Social heritage: humble mining beginnings, frugality, utilitarian, houses built for warmth and with-standing weather, and artistic heritage. In such a fragile ecosystem, inundated with holiday and second homes, properties must be rooted in place.
Interiors that take the lead from the immediate surroundings; designing for the elements, English summers, and harsh winters. Homes that are both outward-facing, yet a place to retreat to in the evenings or on cold, wet days.
